Camping at Dando's

| Tuesday, November 18, 2008

Oh .... the joys of camping again. Last weekend, my cousin, her friends and I went on a ONE night camping trip to a nice spot called Dando's up in the Otways. We had brunch. I told them that, it would be their last good meal till we get home. We got lost driving to Dando's as we followed an unclear map given to us by the info centre. It took us another 30 minutes to get to Dando's. On the way to the camp ground, we saw a couple of wallabies, and lots and lots of blue and red birds -Rosellas. Finally at camp, the girls were busting to go to the dunny, so I've stopped at the toilets (drop holes). 2 minutes later, I could hear screaming, city chicks, I thought, have not seen drop hole dunnies before. I was a bit embarassed, when another camper asked if they were alright.

We picked a nice spot near the river and set up tent. Brought out the food, and after setting up tent, we had a nice afternoon tea. We had a cuppa and some cupcakes.

Went for a walk down the river. The weather forecast rain, and I was expecting rain and thunderstorms, instead we had nice warm weather not forgetting flies. The girls were helpful, and we collected firewood and started a campfire. We made potato and onion wrapped in foil for dinner and cinnamon apples for dessert. It was a nice nite, and we sat around the campfire and chatted and had dark chocolate with roasted almonds and a cuppa. Later on the girls had marshmallows on stick and was bbq-ing them. I tried one and thought.... too much sugar = larger muffin tops. Only had one and stopped.

The night was extremely cold. We had one less sleeping bag, so I had to sleep with a fleece blanket. Guess what? I did not have a good night's rest, as I was freezing my tits off -Oops! I mean my feet felt like ice. The next morning we woke up to this:- AMAZING.....

THANKS FOR THE GOOD TIMES GIRLS!!!!

Collingwood cows

| Thursday, October 30, 2008

Oh... give me a home, where the collingwood cows roam........

Another day in the life of a real estate agent. My task for today was to check out a farm listed with our company. The farm is about 250acres in land, comes with a very big dam and massive hills. My favourite view was atop a hill looking out the ocean. Very very noice scenery. But my al time favourite was the collingwood cows -they are actually fresian cows, reason why I call them collingwood cows, because they are black and white, colours of collingwood football club. Interesting....

Nasi Lemak

| Monday, October 27, 2008

mmmmmm....... was craving for nasi lemak for a while now. So!!!! on Saturday I made Nasi Lemak. For my aussie mates, Nasi Lemak is one of the national food of Malaysia. Consists of coconut rice, ikan bilis (fried anchovies), peanuts, egg, cucumber, sambal (home made chili sauce) and sometimes beef rendang. Well, I've decided to try something new, I've learnt to make Ayam Masak Merah (Chicken Cooked Red). Nasi Lemak can be eaten for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Nasi lemak is usually wrapped in banana leaf and newspaper and the aroma is magic.

My satisfied guests

I had invited Peter, Judy and Marj over to try my Chicken Cooked Red and Nasi Lemak. Sambal is hot and spicy, so is Chicken Cooked Red. I remember one time telling them after eating Nasi Lemak, they will have "hot air blowing out their arse!!!!" I wasn't being rude, but that was the best description that I could provide. The sambal contains belacan (shrimp paste -smells like shit, taste like heaven) and lots of onions. Thus the hot air out arse!

The weather in Apollo Bay on Saturday was just suitable for a meal like this one. It wasn't too hot or nor too cold. Just nice. I managed to drive down the Barham river for some nice shots in the evening, I call this picture - reflections. Was a nice tranquil day and I sat by the riverside watching ducks swimming. The high for last weekend was being able to ride my bike, even around town.

Windy Day in Apollo Bay

| Thursday, October 23, 2008

Windy and cold day here in Apollo Bay. Still had an interesting day on the job. Our real estate agency holiday rents houses with interesting characters. My boss and I had to do a check on the house, there was a table tennis there, and we had a few games. hmmmm.... I enjoyed it. Here are some pictures:-

Till next time........

Sundy Roast

| Sunday, October 19, 2008

The weather took a change today. Yesterday was hot as, and today, cold as - well not cold as, but it was quite cold. Had home cooked bacon and eggs for breakfast and a nice sleep-in. Then coffee with Judy and Marj and skipped lunch, was too full from breakkie.

Spent the next half of the afternoon cleaning and started my Sundy Roast. Lamb was on the menu with pumpkin, potatoes, carrots and some greens. Gotta have the greens. GO GREENS!!! Lamb roast took 3 1/2 hours to cook. So it was nice and tender. Here's a proof:-

Was yummy roast with crackle. mmmmmmm.... I feel bit hungry now. Maybe I'll have some milo.

Nice Warm Weekend

| Saturday, October 18, 2008

Twas a very warm day today. Feels about 30 degrees, and was stuck working on computers. I haven't been doing grocery shopping for a while, so my pantry is bit bare and my fridge empty and off shopping I went. I had been living on "outside" food for nearly a week, and now bearing the brunt - Muffin tops. hmmm....... but...but... I'm happy that I had most of my paper work sorted and the office cleaned out. It is spring!!! Come on, I must clean, wash and clean and wash.

I decided to go for a swim. Mind you, that this is Apollo Bay, no matter how hot the weather is, the ocean's temperature never cease to give you goose bums. It was refreshing to just go for a dip in the ocean's cold. One way of cooling the bod-dee. Too lazy to rinse off after a swim, I decided to cook dinner with my bathers still on. Tonight's menu was flathead spaghetti. Was yummy and I would probably cook it again.

I would like to introduce an addtion to my home - MY SURFY CHICKS.

from left ROXY, RUDE LUCY, RUSTY and RIPCURL

They are my best surfers, though at the moment the tank is a bit bare, I have managed to collect a few shells and will soon create waves for them. I mustn't feed them too much food, or they get muffin tops too.

MUFFIN TOPS: they a bits that hang out from wearing too tight pants. For more info watch Kath and Kim.
